What is Microsoft 365 Copilot?
The part most rollouts skip: permissions
Copilot respects the permissions you already have. That sounds safe until you look at how most tenants actually are: a SharePoint site shared with "Everyone" years ago, a OneDrive folder with a company-wide link, a Teams channel nobody cleaned up.
Before Copilot, that oversharing was hidden because nobody went looking. Copilot goes looking for them. So the first thing we do is find and fix it.

We review SharePoint, OneDrive, and Teams sharing, find overshared sites and files, and check your sensitivity labels and data loss prevention settings.
Licensing guidance
Copilot is an add-on, and the right option depends on your plan and headcount. Microsoft offers Copilot Business for smaller Business-plan tenants and the standard Microsoft 365 Copilot add-on for larger ones. Copilot Chat is included with eligible plans. We help you license the people who'll use it, not everyone by default. (We handle Microsoft licensing directly.)
Rollout
A pilot group first, then the rest of the company. We configure the tenant, turn on the right features, and set up usage reporting so you can see who's actually using it.
Staff training
Short, role-based sessions: how the front desk, the finance team, and the partners each get value out of it. Most of the return comes from people knowing what to ask.

Does Microsoft Copilot train on our company data?
No. Microsoft states that Microsoft 365 Copilot doesn't use your organization's prompts or data to train its foundation models. Your data stays within your Microsoft 365 service boundary.
Do we need a special Microsoft 365 plan for Copilot?
You need a qualifying base plan. Business Basic, Standard, and Premium qualify, as do Microsoft 365 E3 and E5 and several others. Copilot is then added per user.
Is Copilot Chat free?
Copilot Chat is included at no extra cost for users on eligible Microsoft 365 plans. The full Copilot experience inside Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams, grounded in your company data, requires a paid Copilot license.
Can Copilot see files it shouldn't?
Copilot only shows people what they already have permission to access. If permissions are too broad, it can surface content people shouldn't see, which is why we clean up permissions before rollout.
Is Copilot HIPAA compliant?
Microsoft 365 Copilot used inside your company's Microsoft 365 tenant can be covered by Microsoft's HIPAA Business Associate Agreement. Consumer and personal-account versions of Copilot aren't covered and shouldn't touch patient data. A BAA alone doesn't make you compliant; sensitivity labels, data loss prevention, and audit logging still need to be configured, and we confirm your BAA coverage before any PHI use.
